Film à voir et à revoir . Mel Gibson est étonnant en Hamlet et la scène avec sa mère incarnée par Glenn Close est inoubliable tant l'atmosphère quasi incestueuse est merveilleusement rendue par les acteurs et Zeffirelli qui est un shakespearien sans égal

Au même titre qu'Henri V avec Kenneth Branagh, il faut voir ce film si l'on aime la littérature anglaise et le jeu toujours très juste des acteurs shakespeariens. Mel Gibson est dans son élément et Gleen Close aussi délicieuse que dans "le lion en hiver."

Mel Gibson (the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon films) takes on his richest part to date, the title role in a dynamic new version of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Directed by Franco Zeffirelli (Romeo and Juliet, Jesus of Nazareth), the location-shot production has a sumptuous look that won Academy Award nominations for Art Direction and Costume Design. Gibson plays the prince of medieval-era Denmark, who senses treachery behind his royal father's death.
