Centuries later, (circa 1930 A.D.) a transplanted Dutchman started raising the precious Tulip bulbs in the Skagit Valley of Washington State which possessed a mild climate, evenly distributed rainfall and fertile farmlands to provide an ideal environment for raising Tulips...as well as Daffodils and Iris.

In recent years the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival has taken on county fair proportions becoming a Rite of Spring for the entire region. Each April, hundreds of acres of blooming fields resembling a colorful explosion in a paint factory attract nearly a half million visitors.
