Yu-Gi-Oh! The Shadow Games presents the episodes released on Yu-Gi-Oh! The Heart of the Cards without the changes made for American TV. While noticeable in a one-on-one comparisons, the alterations are relatively minor, and don't alter the storyline. In episode 1, Yugi doesn't tell his arch-rival Kaiba to open his mind to the heart of the cards, he clobbers him with a mind crush. In episode 2, Pegasus doesn't reveal that he's after the Millennium Objects. The most substantial changes involve Joey and his relationship with Yugi: In this version, their meeting is presented in more detail, and Joey credits Yugi with turning him around when he was a fighter and a troublemaker.
