The Return of Rin Tin Tin: Golden Years of Vintage TV catalog. Strictly for the kids, the film features then child star Blake as a refugee boy, a pyschological casualty of war in Europe who is spending the summer at a Calfornia mission. The kid looks to be a lost cause, but Rin Tin Tin shows up after escaping from a Santa Barbara kennel. From there on the two are inseparable as they fight off Rinty's owners and the dog returns the favor by saving the kid from a pack of rabid dogs. After getting out of that scrape, they are paired forever.

The Painted Hills: This was the famous collie's last film for MGM. The story stars Kelly, Lassie's master, as a goldminer in the 1870's. Kelly's partner in the mine is Cowling, who gets a bad case of gold fever. He wants it all for himself and tries to arrange his partner's death so that the blame goes to Lassie. The canine heroine outsmarts the villain who meets his doom falling over a cliff. The fine color photography makes good use of the beautiful mountain scenery. The action sequences are well put together giving a sense of excitement. ...
